Lee—Fleming

Pale pink cosmos, Michaelmas daisies and autumn leaves -were used to decorate St. Mary’s Church, Waipukurau, for the wedding of Irene Gladys, daughter of Mrs W. G. Fleming and the late Mr W. G. Fleming, “Purimu,” Hatuma, to Jack Carnleigh, eldest son of" Mr and Mrs J. K. Lee, Porangahau road, Waipukurau, which was celebrated last night. The Kev. Canon E. D. Rice officiated at the ceremony, and Mrs W. G. Bryee played the wedding music. White and silver closely ribbed crepe fashioned the gown worn by the bride, who was escorted by her uncle, Mr Arthur Bellamy. The gown was cut on simple classical lines, the skirt of which flared to form a train and the front hemline was turned back with a wide band of silver tissue. The corsage in front was softly cowled, and caught with a silver rose while the back was tucked. The sleeves were long and tight-fitting and came to a point over the hands. She wore white embossed velvet shoes and her long veil of silverthreaded tulle was worn with a halo of orange blossoms and fell gracefully to form a second train. A lovely arm sheaf of palest pink, shading to rose, gladolias and maidenhair fern was carried. Pink, green and corn-coloured heavy ribbed crepe gowns were worn by the three bridesmaids, who were Miss Clara Fleming, Miss Leona Gronn and Miss Nellie Gronn, all cousins of the bride. Their gowns were fashioned alike. The skirts were closely rucked at the waistline at the back and fell in soft folds to the ground. The corsage was cut with a high-front neckline and shirred from shoulder to shoulder and pouched at the waistline with butterfly sleeves. A sash of the same material coming from the sides was tied in a bow at the

back. Each maid wore silver shoes and a halo of silver leaves.

Red roses, chrysanthemums, and autumn leaves tied with ribbon to match their gowns comprised the bridesmaids’ bouquets. The best man was Mr Pryn Lee (the bridegroom’s brother), and the groomsmen were Mr Duncan Fleming (cousin of the bride) and Mr Morris Lee (the bridegroom’s brother). After the ceremony a reception was held at the Ruahine Tearooms, which were attractively decorated for the occasion.

Mrs Fleming received her guests in a smart model gown of black silk morocain, the full bishop sleeves of black and silver floral tissue were shirred at the shoulders, and the cowl neckline was caught with a handsome antique clasp. She wore a black velour hat with a red and black feather mount, a stonemartin fur, and carried a bouquet of red roses, zinnias and autumn leaves. Mrs J. K. Lee, mother of the bridegroom, wore wine-coloured lace and a matching ring velvet coat with hat and •hues to tone and carried a bouquet in autumn tonings.

Mrs F. Lee (Wellington), grandmother of the bridegroom, was gowned in blue lace worn with a blue velvet hat. Mrs C. W. Pryor (New Plymouth), grandmother of the bridegroom, was wearing black lace and smart black toque. Mrs Bellamy (aunt of the bride), blue morocain frock and blue hat. Mrs J. Fleming (aunt of the bride), wore black lack and a black hat. At the jolly sit-down supper the toast of ‘‘the bride and bridegroom” was proposed by Canon E. D. Eice. The bride cut the handsome square threetiered wedding cake which was decorated in white and silver. Mr and Mrs Jack Lee left later on a motoring tour in the north. Mrs Lee travelled in a smart navy wool marocain frock with very full bishop sleeves, pin tucked vestee, patch pockets and a narrow collar of silver metal, worn under a long navy blue tailored coat with a wide collar of grey fox fur. Her halo hat was of blue felt and blue suede shoes were worn.
