Wells, of Stortford street, one of the oldest residents of Hastings, celebrated her 81st birthday this week. She came to New Zealand 78 years ago, and most of her life since then has been spent in this district. Her husband is still actively at work at his trade. Miss LeslieHulbeche is an Auckland visitor to Hastings. Miss Nanev Nolan, Wairoa, visited Hastings for the de Gruchy Graham wedding yesterday. Miss Jocelyn Ludbrook, Gisborne, is the guest of Mrs H. M Wilson, Lyndhurst rosd, Hastings, Miss Jean Ballantyne leaves listings in May l<> continue her dancing studies in London. During her absence her place will be taken by Miss
Upton, M.N.A.T.D., M.LS.T,D. (London), of Auckland, who will be assisted by the Misses Hilary Fendall, Fay Hall and Bona Benouf. Miss Upton has been teaching for several years with Miss Mabel Johnson, of Auckland, and also trained with Miss Josephine Bradley, of London. Miss Dorothy Wilson, who has been spending a few days with her parents, Dr. and Mrs H. M. Wilson, Lyndhurst road, Hastings, returns to Wellington’! to-morrow. Miss Myra Sawyer, who was the guest of Mrs A. I'liristie, Havelock North, for the organ recital and 8.M.8. concert, returned to ’Wellington yesterday. Miss Jean Rash-Muro left Hastings this morning for Auckland to join the Monowai for Sydney en route to South Africa, where she intends to reside. Accompanying her ns far as Auckland was her friend, Miss P. Markham.
