EASTER CRICKET

Hawke’s Bay Association SMOKE CONCERT DATE Cricket matters were discussed at the fortnightly meeting of the management committee of the Hawke’s Bay Cricket Association in Napier last night. The principal business of the evening was the arrangement of Easter fixtures. The chairman, Mr H. H. Wylie, presided over Messrs J. W. Callaghan, J. J. O'iirien, A. Fenton, IV. A. McLeod, E. Lloyd and E. Elliott (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs R. M. Chadwick, R. de K. Worker, W. L. Dunn and W. Hunter. A team from Waipukurau is to play a one-day match at Napier at Easter. This offer was accepted, the match being scheduled, to start at 10 o’clock on Easter Monday. Arrangements for the annual smoke concert and presentation of prizes were discussed, and a date suggested was April 27. A committee was appointed to make the necessary arrangements. The next meeting is to be held on April 21. Two matches will be played in Napier over the Easter holidays, one a representative fixture with a Wellington team. Another match is to be played with Waipukurau. The Wellington team will arrive on Good Friday and the match will be commenced on Saturday and concluded on Easter Monday. The Wellington eleven is considered to be one of the strongest teams to visit Napier, and the Hawke’s Bay team will be fully extended to defeat the visitors.
