4000 Sheep Have Long Trek From Our Own Correspondent. WAIPUKURAU, April 7. A mob of some 400 U sheep from East Cape, 140 miles north of Gisborne, passed through Waipukurau to-day. They had been eight weeks on the road and have still some distance to travel before they reach their destination, Aohanga, which is about 40 miles south of Porangahau, in the Akitio district.

A green Vauxhall car, with wire wheels, was stoleu from Linton near Palmerston North, last night and ’ie believed to have been seen about 9.30 this morning at the end of Farm road, about .14 miles from Waipukurau. Southern lost five for 93 at stumps (Culiford 27, Schwab 24), Central won by 22 runs on the first innings. , A large audience filled the Municipal Theatre, Waipukurau, last night to see the first appearance of J. C. Williamson’s Gilbert and Sullivan opera “The Gondoliers,” in Waipukurau. The audience was fully satisfied as was proved by the hearty applause.
