Waipawa Fortnightly Meeting From Our Own Correspondent. WAIPAWA, March 29. I he fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Abbotsford Lodge, Manchester Unity Oddfellows, was held in the lodgeroom on Friday night, tho N.G. Bro. R Kirk presiding over a fair attendance of members. One new member was initiated into the order. Letter of thanks for the congratulations extended to them were received from D.G.M. Bro. Reg. Cook and D.D.G.M. Bro. P. J. Priest. Director Bro. N. J. McKay reported on the steps taken by the Juvenile Lodge committee in connection with the formation of a juvenile branch to Abbotsford Lodge. The committee had been uanimously of opinion that a juvenile lodge could be successfully formed in Waipawa, and a meeting of members, their wives and children had been convened for Friday, April 3, when tho aims and objects of the movement would be explained, and the foundation members enrolled. P.G. Sister J. Fletcher, and P.G. Bro. J. Cable had been appointed as supervisors. P.G. Bro. Cable extended to Sister and P.G. Bro. J. McNeilly, who are shortly leaving to reside iu Lower Hutt, the heartiest good wishes -or their future success and lodge honours were accorded. Bro. McNeilly suitably replied. Tho secretary pointed out that in Lower Hutt Bro. McNeilly would be attending Loyal Rose of the Valley Lodge, which was the home lodge of the founder of Abbotsford Lodge, the late Bro. Martin Collett and Bro. McNeilly was requested to extend fraternal greetings to that lodge on behalf ot Abbotsford. The next meeting of the lodge will be held on Wednesday, April 8, instead of the usual meeting night which falls on Good Friday. Congratulations Here extended to
P.G. Bro. Wallis on having secured 51 new members up to the end of the last financial year. At the conclusion of the meeting supper was served by the social com--mittee. A match for the indoor bowing buttons resulted in a win for the challengers, Bros. Whyman and Kingston (6) over Bros. Holt and Mael'hcrsjn (2).
