DROWNING TRAGEDY
Unusual Circumstances FARM-HAND’S DEATH (By Telegraph—Press Association.» PALMERSTON N., March 17. A drowning tragedy surrounded by unusual circumstances is reported from Sanson. The victim was Mr Lawrence Danzel Sanson, aged 21, the youngest son of Mr A. H. Sanson, of Sanson, and employed by Mr Colin Lawrence for the last eight months. The deceased left his employer’s farm on Friday afternoon for Otaki, which place he left at 7.110 on Sunday night. His absence over the week-end did not alarm his employer, as the deceased had ’een away on other occasions. However, when Mr Lawrence arrived home himself at about midnight on Sunday he saw Mr Sanson’s shoes at the back door and concluded that he had gone to his room and bed. In the morning the deceased did not appear, and an investigation revealed that his bed had not been slept in. A search was made, and Mr Sanson’s body was recovered from a dam on the property. The body was fully dressed except for the shoes. W’here the deceased was lying there was only 18 inches of water. The body was taken to Bulls, when an inquest will be held.
