H.B. AUTUMN SHOW
Axemen’s Events George Washington and the late Rt. Hou. W. E. Gladstone made a hobby of chopping down trees. Both seem to have been rather proud of their exploits in that direction. We don't quite know what their record times were, but we are quite sure that Dave Pretty, Chris Berkahn (in his prime if not row), and Andy Curtin, could all beat them. But just whether the axemen named will gain as much fame through chopping down trees, is not certain. However, it can safely be asserted that New Zealand axemen can hold their own with any in the world. The chopping and sawing events at the Autumn Show have drawn exceptionally large entries, and these should br among the most exciting competition of the show this week.
