The Wellington Racing Club’s autumn meeting was opened at Trentham to-day in fine but windy weather. The traek was in excellent order. There was a good attendance. The totalizator handled £37,389, against £34,524 10/-, an increase of £2864 10/-. An inquiry was opened into the fall and death of Gay Chief in the Pacific Handicap and Was adjourned until Monday.
