ABBOTSFORD LODGE

Monthly Meeting at Waipawa From Our Own Correspondent WAIPAWA, March 15, The usual monthly meeting of the Loyal Abbotsford Lodge, Manchester Unity Oddfellows, was held on Friday' evening, the N.G. Bro. R. Kirk presiding over only a small attendance of members. One candidate was proposed for membership. A report on tho business transacted at the District Conference, prepared by the financial secretary, was held over until the next meeting, the secretary, however, advising the lodge of the result of the election of district officers. It was resolved that a letter conveying the congratulations of the lodge, be sent to the newly-elected District Grand Master, Bro. Beg. Cook (Waipukurau) and to the Deputy-Dis-trict Grand Master, Bro. P. J. Priest (Hastings). The secretary also reported that the Grand Lodge secretary was at present arranging for a supply of books containing the new ritual, and these would bo available in the near future. The Grand Master for New Zealand will be visiting Hawke’s Bay within the next month or so, and will be making Waipawa his centre on that occasion. A letter of recommendation was granted to one member who had left the district. At the conclusion of the meeting supper was served by the social com mittee. In a match for the Challenge Buttons (indoor bowls), Bros. Holt and McPherson defeated Bros. Kirk and A. Watson.
