Broadcasting Arranged GOVERNMENT’S INNOVATION (Bn Telesrapb-rreaa Aaaociatlon.l WELLINGTON, March 14. For the first time in the history of New Zealand the public will on Thursday, March 26. be able to hear the Speech from the Thiune. In the past the privilege has been limited to the selected few fortunate enough to secure tickets and admission to the Legislative Council galleries on the occasion of the formal opening of Parliament, but as a result of arrangements now being finalised, the proceedings on Thursday week will be broadcast. The innovation is the result of the Government’s decision to broadcast Parliament. Parliament will not be continuously on the air, but most of the important happenings will be on the air, the first of which will be the election of the new Speaker on March 25. Loud-speakers will be outside Parliament House at the opening of Parliament for the benefit of those outside.
