GOLF AND BRIDGE
Hastings Club Afternoon Golfers and bridge enthusiasts met at the Hastings Goll Club on Thursday afternoon when a very jolly party, previously arranged by the club captain, Mrs J. H. Jefferd, was held to raise funds for the furnishings or the ladies’ room. The committee who were responsible for the excellent arrangements were Mesdames J. H. Jefferd, John Hill, D. M. Mclntosh, S. 1. Jones, and ,1 Redward. 'the aiteruoon was ideal for playing gulf uiiu quite a largo number enjoyed a game. Among them were: Alesdames Jubliu, 0. Nelson, Palmer, Kirkley, C. Slater, North, Evison, Edwards. Aleikle, A. Grant, Simmonds, Heeney, Egan, B. Shadbolt, Redgrave, H. D. Brown, Wellwood and the Aliases McKay, D. Thompson, f’eddie, M. Ryan, 0. Smith, Ferguson-Smith, F. Smith. P. Wood. M. Thomson, J. Small, L. Candy, J. Watters, 1. Kelly, McAlister. Mrs 0. Nelson won the first golf trophy, and Mrs C. Slater won the second trophy. Inside the club-house bridge was arranged for the non-golfers. Those playing bridge were: Mesdames 11. Bishop, McNiven, Cashmore, W. G. Stead, E. Marshall, B. Kessell, E. Rivers, F. Budd, A .Bell, W. Harrison, G. Tripe, F. Cuming, G. Wyer, G. Wilkinson. A. Heaton, Miss Handvside.
Mrs H. Bishop won the highest score prize, and Airs W. Harrison won the bidden number prize. Afternoon tea was much appreciated during an interval. Mrs S. 1. Jones presented a box ol delicious home-made sweets which was won by Airs E. Rivers. Those who weie. not present but sent donations were: Mrs H. Al. Campbell, Mrs de Denne, Airs W. Alaitland, Airs J. Lyons, Mrs R. Harding, Airs H. Knight, Airs Faulkner, Airs McFarlane. Airs C. Baker, Airs Averill, Aliss Baird, and Aliss Wellwood.
