Ferry's Heavy Driver.
Alfred Perry, British open golf champion who won the Guildford angd District Alliance’s medal competition recently, has revealed the secret of his exceptionally long hitting in the match. He has a new, heavy driver, weighing 15oz. aud fitted with a twintaper steel shaft. The weight of the duh used by the average golfer is about 13oz. to 13Joz. The new driver got Perry about 280 yards with the wind, and about 245 against it. In adopting a heavy club he is following the example of Gene Sarazen, who maintains that ifb a player has the power to swing a heavy club, and still keeps the same speed ratio, the length of the shot must be increased. Sarazen himself uses a 15Joz. driver. South Africa Losing Crisp. South Africa is to lose the services of R. J.
