TRAFFIC BREACHES
Two defendants appeared before Mr J. Miller, S.M., at the Hastings Police Court this morning on charges of committing breaches of the traffic regulations.
Gordon Spillett, a motor-cyclist, failed to give way to traffic on his right and collided with a motor-lorry. He did not appear in Court, and was fined £1 10/- and costs 13/4.
Arthur B Hodgson, a motorist, was fined £2 and costs 10/- for passing a truck at an intersection. On behalf of this defendant Mr H. Holderness pleaded guilty. Senior-Sergeant Macnamara, on behalf of the police, said it was evident from the skid marks that the defendant was travelling at an excessive speed. Mr Holderness said this was not so, and that his client had not seen any signal given by the truck driver.
The Magistrate said it seemed to him that the defendant could have been with driving in a manner dangerous to the public.
