BELGIUM’S LONELY KING

Old Palace Unoccupied

King Leopold of the Belgians and his three motherless children have now moved to the Laeken Palace, the residence of the Queen Mother, four miles out of Brussels.

The Stuyvenberg Palace, where they lived while Queen Astrid was alive, has been closed and will remain unoccupied. At the Laeken Palace a special classroom has been fitted out for the little Princess Josephine Charlotte, who is being educated under the persona! supervision of the Queen Mother, together with four little girls of aristocratic Belgian families.

The princes are always clad in white, which was the favourite colour of the late queen. The Belgian Court will remain in mourning until February.
