HASTINGS FAT CATTLE Moderate Entry of 200 Head QUALITY LINES SCARCE An entry of 200 fat and 600 store cattle came forward at to-day’s stock sale at Stortford Lodge. The fat cattle were of only average quality, with lighter finished and plain sorts principally on offier. Prime sorts were few, particularly with buliiAks. Competition was again well maintained on the fat entry, butchering interests taking the bulk of the offering at rates much on parity with last week, wita, however, a number of passings. Dairy sorts of fat cattle were again much in evidence, meeting with fair inquiry, poorer sorts being quiet. A selection of the entries and prices paid, from which an idea of the state qf tie market may be obtained, is as follows:— DOW PRICES. A pair of dehorned Shorthorn cows, in from Qmarunui and offered on account of Mr T. H. Lowry, well grown and medium to prime, realised £6 18/-. A single prim l ’ Shorthorn from the same vendor maue £7 1/-. A draft of P.A. cows, on account of Mr T. H. Lowry, well grown and medium to prime, sold at from £6 13/6 to £6 15/-. A pen of five P.A. cows, well grown medium finished, passed at £6 13/6. A further two made £6 10/-. A single Hereford cow, well grown and finished, realised £6 14/-- Two cFotssbred P.A. cows in the same pen, plain in finish, passed at £5 12/6._ Two dehorned Hereford cows sold at £5 5/-. A further two made £5 7/6. A aingle well framed P.A. cow, lightly finished, realised £5 18/6. Eight P.A. cows, well grown and weighty, realised £8 for the three heaviest rattte, the remainder selling at £7 4/-. EBIFER RATES. A ahgjle prime P.A. heifer, on ac<sf Mr T H. Lowry, met the nmket at £7 10/•• A line of eight Hereford and Herefora crossbred runner heifers made £4. A pair of P.A, heifers, fairly framed •nd finished, sold at £6 12/6. A. “■ BfMfLOCK VALUES. A single Hereford bullock, on »ocpfitt df a Haumoana vendor, fairly framed and finished, sold at £8 12/6. A similar bullock made £8 10/-. A pen of six dehorned Hereford bullocks, in from Raukawa and on account of Mr Robt. Harding, medium framed and well finished, realised £9 8/6. Four P.A. bullocks, medium framed and light to medium finished, realised £7 17/-. Two lighter bullocks sold at Sn 11/6. Eight P.A. cows, wall grown and weighty cattle, realised £8 for the tops, the remainder selling at £7 4/-. A single crossbred Jersey bullock, well framed and finished, made £9. Foor Hereford bullocks, in from Baukawa and on account of Mr Robt. Harding medium to well framed and finished, passed at £8 15/-. A further beast passed £9.
