MAJORITY INCREASED

Mr. Barnard and Napier Seat FINAL ASSESSMENT The final assessment of votes recorded by electors of Napier in the recent elections has now been completed by the returning officer, Al r G. G. Chisholm, and the exact majority gained by M> W. E. Barnard over his principal o' ponent, Mr F. B. Logan, is 4057 vol--After th e recount and the assessmCt of postal and absentee votes, Mr L ir ' nard gained 7290 votes and Mr Lo, an 3233. The final figures give Mr Barnan F . more votes and Mr Logan 282. It is interesting to reel'd that approximately 90 per cen • of Napier electors recorded tliei votes at the elections, this being : higher average than that of the lasi two elections so far as the Napier ebctoral district is concerned.

The total number of persons entitled to vote was 12,399, of which 11,109 cast their votes.
