PARKVALE SCHOOL

Meeting of Committee CONCERT TO BE HELD The Parkvale School Committee held its monthly meeting last night, there being present Messrs A. V. Stamp Chairman), T, Kapley, L. J. lustonc, K. J. Davidson. J. Stickland (secretary). and W. B. Roe (headmaster). The headmaster reported that the attendance had shown a great, improvement during the month on account of the easing up of the minor sicknesses which had been so prevalent, and the roll was now 405. He reported that Mias E. Allison had resigned from the school in order to take up the position of sole teacher at Waiaruhe, near Dannevirke, and that Mr J. M. Bennett had been transferred from the school. It was decided to send a letter of congratulation to Miss Allison >n her appointment, and to send a letter of thanks to Mr Bennett for the good work he had done while at the Parkvale school. The report added that Miss E. Lorimer and Miss L. P. Renton, of Dunedin, had both received appointments at the school, and had taken over their duties. Mr Roe stated that 46 swimming certificates, covering distances from 50 yards to half a mile, had been won by the school, and these had now been presented. Thanks were expressed by the headmaster and teachers for the committee’s gift to the school of eight volumes of “The Golden Pathway, which had already proved a very valuable gift for the staff ami pupils alike. The headmaster also expressed his thanks to -Mr A. V.
