WEDDING

Neilson —Daily

St. Augustine’s Church, Napier, was the scene of a very pretty wedding last Thursday, the contracting parties being Pearl Dorothy, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Daily, Vigor Brown street, Napier, and Albert Kenneth Neilson, son of Mr and Mrs A, E. Neilson, Karorf, Wellington. The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion by Mr A. J. Anderson, the chancel having a.n artistic setting of kentia palms, flowering cineraria and cyclamen. The officiating clergyman was the vicar, the Rev. Canon Alfred Hodge and presiding at the organ was Miss Ray Rosewarne. The bride entered the church escorted by her father, who gave her away. She wore a charming wedding gov. n of French lace in a pretty cream tone fashioned with cowl draped bodice and finished with diainente clip. The sleeves were long and close-fitting to the wrist. The skirt was inlet with pintucked panels of georgette from waist to knee from where it gradually flared into a train. The veil of Brussels net was embroidered by the bridegroom’s mother in a design worked m silver thread and seed pearls. The bouquet carried was of creamy hyacinths, cyclamen, lilies and magnolia blooms and fern, tied with sort cream ribbon. She also wore the bridegroom’s gift, a string of pearls. Four maids were in attendance, the Misses A. Daily (sister of the bride; chief), N. Nicholls (cousin of the bridegroom), N. Daily (sister of the bride), and N. Morris. The two former were frocked m green and the latter in pink- All frocks were fashioned alike of windswept crepon and made with gored skirts having frilled godets inlet. The bodices were made with yokes edged with narrow frills which extended over the shoulders and formed sleevelets. Velvet sashes finished the waist. Each wore a laigti hat in halo effect and long lace mittens also the bridegroom’s gift, a dainty necklace. Their bouquets were of pink camellias and hyacinths with tern and were tied with green and pink ribbon. During the service, Miss K. Jansen, Wellington, cousin of the bridegroom, sang “Ave Maria” (Gounod). The duties of best man were carried out by Mr R. Pearse and those or groomsman by Mr M. Daily (brother of the bride) and Margaret, a small sister of the bride, was also in attendance. She wore an early Victorian costume of pink satin with bonnet and shoes of the same material and carried a silver horseshoe which she presented to the bride on leaving the church. Very kindly was the action of the bride, who drove with her party straight to the hospital from the

church so that the bridegroom’s cousin, who has been laid up since the earthquake, might see the bridal frocking and convey her greetings. All the usual toasts were honoured and speeches made at the wedding tea which followed the reception and was held in the Foresters’ Hall. Mr and Mrs Daily, with the bridegroom’s parents, received the guests. Mrs Daily, mother of the bride, wore a smart brown ensemble, the coat of plain material and the frock of French floral silk crepe in autumn tonings. The straw hat matched and her bouquet was in autumn shades. Mrs Neilson, mother of the bridegroom, wore a model navy ensemble in a woollen French material with hat to tone and carried a bouquet of scarlet flowers. All bouquets were made by the bride's father.

The bride was the recipient of a silver tea service from the staff of Swailes Printing Co., where she was employed, and the bridegroom’s colleagues and staff of the railway office at Wellington presented him with a dinner service.

When the young couple left on their honeymoon tour, Mrs Neilson wore a smart grey costume with spotted blue and white blouse and scarf; hat, gloves and bag toned.
