NAPIER BOROUGH RATES
Total Unaltered HIGHER GENERAL LEVY The Napier Borough Council has announced its decision to increase the general rate from 2Jd, as it was last year, to 4 73/200d. The Hawke’s Bay Rivers Board special rate is l-3d this year instead of 3-8 d as it was last year, a slight decrease.
An examination of the figures shows that the total rating will be the same as it was in 1934, but the different sections will show alteration. I'or instance,- although the total (BJd) is the same, the Hospital rate has been increased from 67/100d to 76/100d, and the special rate for interest and sinking fund is 3 3-8 d against 5 33/100d in 193-1.
The differences, therefore, are in the general fate, which lias been raised, the hospital nite, which is raised, and the fund to provide interest and slaking fund for the redumption of certain loans. The water rate upon ordinary supplies is Id, us it was in 1934.
