SUNDAY NIGHT CONCERT

Exceptional Talent Engaged

The usual Sunday night concert will be held in the Municipal Theatre next Sunday, July 28, at 8.15 p.m. It will be in aid of the New Belief Workers' Association’s distress funds.

A very fine programme has been arranged. The opening items will be given by Mr. Lew Munroe’s ever-popu-lar orchestra in some of the latest hits. The star items on the programme will be the appearance of Mr. Stan Philpott in his very clever chalk talks and Mr. Geoff Verry in his very clever 15 minutes of magic. Both these artists have had wonderful receptions wherever they have appeared. The Melody Boys, eight in number, will be heard in their musical and song items, all playing stringed instruments. Madge Widerstrom is a new artist to Hastings also, and is considered one ot the best humorous singers in New Zealand. She has appeared in the music Halls in London, and at the leading theatres in Now Zealand, where she met with every success. Since the management has been successful in arranging this visit of this popular artist, it is hoped the public will roll up in lamnumbers to see her. Miss Joan Fern will be heard in several yodelling solos, which should prove very popular items Miss Reynolds, who is well known as an elocutionist, will give several humorous numbers. The pupils of Miss Smythe will be seen in action songs, etc. Miss Pat Over will appear by special request in a song and dance item.

The mystery iterfl will again prove that it alone would be worth the price of admission, and as in the past this item is always selected by the organiser as the supreme item.

The booking is now open at Chas. O’Neill’s, hairdresser, Heretaunga street, Hastings, or at the theatje after 7 p.m. on Sunday evening. Remember the date, Sunday next, at the Munici pal Theatre at 8.15 p.m. These concerts have become more popular with each succeeding programme, and it can be said that those who attend are entertained in royal manner, while at the same time they are helping a worthy object.
