EXCELLENT MARCHING

f rom Our Own Correspondent. WAIPAWA, July 2't

The annual ball in aid of the funds of the Watpawa District High School was held in the Municipal Theatre on Friday evening, and was, as usual, un

outstanding success, reflecting great credit on the organising committee, the headmaster, and the members of the school staff.

The children’s session commenced ui 7 o’clock, and fijom then until , o'clock the floor was given up enurelv to the children. The fact that they were having a truly marvellous lino, was evidenced by their peals of mirth, and tho looks of complete happiness on their faces. At 8 o’clock the Grand March took place, and the splendid tr ray of fancy costumes presented a very pleasing spectacle. The marching of the children was excellent, and the forming up of the parade in the various figures of the march were carried on without a hitch, and received wellmerited applause. Special mention must be made ol the splendid manner in which the supper arrangements were carried out. It is no easy matter to successfully cater for a crowd such as attends a school ball, and the committee responsible in this connection are deserving of great credit, as their arrangements went oif without a hitch of any kind. The thanks of the committee are due to all those who assisted in any way towards tho success of the function, and particularly to the ladies’ commit tee which took in band the catering ar rangements, also to all those who as sisted with donations.
