Fur and Tweed for Cold Day

SATURDAY’S FROCKING

The Hawke’s Bay Hunt Club held its winter race meeting on Saturday and was unfortunate in having a particularly unpleasant day, cold and wet. .Many patrons, however, braved tho elements and enjoyed a good day’s sport, though it was necessary to remain on the stand as much as possible.

Clothes were necessarily as warm as possible and fur and tweed coats were worn over bright woollen jumpers with bright scarves, hats and gloves. During the afternoon the Hastings Citizens’ Band played splendid selections.

Among those seen on the lawn were: Airs. Thornley Sherratt, wife of the Master, black coat with silver fox collar and cuffs and a black hat with white quill. Airs. G. D. Beatson, dark blue tailored boucle coat with lox fur collar, and a blue velour hat.

Air?. A. I’. White, fawn tailored suit worn with a deep green figured silk blouse and a green felt hat. Airs. J. Chambers, rust ensemble under a musquash coat and a brown hat banded with rust.

Mrs. E. Nelson, navy tailored coat with a parma violet and lawn scarf and a black velour hat.

Airs, John Kelly, black coat with high fox collar and a tiny black hat. Airs. T. H. Lowry, fur coat over a navy ensemble and a navy hat finished with a white quill. Airs. J. N. Lowry, tailored suit of grey pencil checked with cherry, and a tiny brown hat. Mrs. H. R. Peacock, marmot coat over a brown frock, with tawn necktie and a brown felt hat.

Mrs. W. Deans (Christchurch), tailored suit of fawn-brown tweed with a brown hat and fox furs.

Mrs. I{. Lowry, grey tailored coat fastened high at the neck, and a fawn hat turned up in front. Airs. F. AlcHardy, navy knop tweed ensemble, with stone marten furs and a navy hat turned off the face. Airs. R. Tripe (Wellington), light brown ensemble with fur collar and a brown off-the-face hat. Mrs. T. C. Lowry (Taihape), rust ensemble with a stone marten necklet and a brown hat turned up in front. Mrs. A. Stead, musquash coat over a brown suit, and small brown hat. Airs. W. J. Harding, squirrel coat worn over a brown suit and a brown hat.

Airs F. C. Fryer, musquash fur coat and a burgundy angora flecked hat.

Mrs. E. Groonie, black sealskin coat with a wolf collar, and a navy felt hat.

Airs. W. Sherratt, vivid blue tweed coat with a long roll collar of grey fox, and a blue hat trimmed with a grey quill.

Airs. Brian Boys, brown coat with a large skunk collar and a blue velour hat turned up at the back with a quill. Airs. Hobson, musquash coat and a brown felt hat.

Mrs. W. 11. Gaisford, sable coat with a brown and fawn spotted scarf and a brown velour hat with mottled quill.

Mrs. N. White, brown velour coat with fur collar over a pink suit, and a brown felt hat

Mrs. T. Fox navy tailored coat and a small navy hat.

Aliss Burke (Gisborne), sable coat over a navy suit, and a navy hat with bright dagger through the crown. Airs. T. V, Alorrin, black suit with a black coat and hat, the latter trimmed with cire ribbon.

Airs. C. Twist, black tailored coat with skunk collar and a black hat. Airs. IV. 11. Stead, fawn tweed costume, stone marten necklet and fawn hat banded with brown. Airs. O. Nelson, cocowood brown coat with high sable collar and a brown hat. Airs. D. Douglas, vivid fdue coat and a hat of the same material turned up all round, and stone marten furs.

Airs. L. Gordon, light brown ensemble with a waist-length capo and a brown felt hat.

Airs. C. Giblin, deepest lime-green self-striped boucle, with wolf necklet and a green hat.

Airs. H. Hunter blue tailored coat with silver lox collar, blue and white scarf and blue angora hat. Airs, Sicevens, musquash coat over a black suit with vivid red jumper and a black velvet hat. Miss Margaret Bell, tailored suit ol finely cheeked tneed in shades of brown and lawn, with a rust and brown shaded scarf and brown hat trimmed with touches of rust. Aliss Ruth Hyslop, fawn coat over a navy ensemble and a grey hat handed with navy. Aliss Aj. Jeiferd, cadet blue tailored eoat with a fur necklet and a blue hat turned up at the back. Aliss V. Harding, blue and grey tweed suit with a blue figured silk blouse and blue felt hat. Aliss G. Fryer, smart coat ot brown tweed flecked with yellow', a yellow scarf and brown and yellow* beret.

Aliss A. Wilder, navy coat with grey squirrel collar, navy and white scarf, and small navy off-the-face hat. Miss Jean Wilson, brown tailored boucle coat with a fur collar, and a brown felt hat.
