Prices at Waipukurau To-day Taking the quality of the entry into consideration, late rates were generally well maintained in the fat cattle section at today's sale at Waipukurau, when a moderate yarding was offered. Store cattle were also steady, with, however, a quiet enquiry for breeding cows, several pens of which were passed in. The quality of the fat cattle entry was very mixed, with a big proportion of dairy-bred and lightly finished lines included in the offering. Prime cattle were not represented at all, and with the exception of a few pens the condition of the majority of the yarding was well eblow usual standard. Selected entries paid, from which an idae of the state of the market may be obtained, are as follow:— FAT CATTLE. Three P.A. cows mixed in frame aud light to medium finish sold well at £4 11/-. A dehorned Hereford cow. in miliar order, made £4 10/Six Red Poll heifers, small to medium framed, lightly finished, realised £3 8/-. Two P.A. cows, medium framed and finished, sold at £4 12/-. A single P.A. crossbred steer, medium trained and light, made £5 15/-. A pair of Hereford bullocks, young cattle, medium framed and light, passed at £5 5/-, a further tour passing at the same figure.
Three P.A. bullocks, medium framed and finished, met the market at £7 7/--A single dehorned Hereford cow, fairly framed and medium finished, made £4 12/6 a further beast realising £4 10/-. Four Red Poli bullocks, medium framed cattle, lightly finished, made £6 5/-. A single Hereford crossbred vealer steer, quite well grown and finished, sold at £3 4/-. In the same pen three vealer heifers realised £2 15/-. A Friesian and a P.A. crossbred cow, quite well grown and medium finished, made £4 19/-. STORE CATTLE. Eight empty P.A. store cows, fairly finished, made £1 17/-. A line of 31 l‘.A. and I’.A.-Hereford cows and heifers, empty, small to medium' framed, mixed, realised £2 12/-. A Porangahau entry of lo P.A. rising two-year-old eteers, medium framed and in active store order, sold at £3 15/-. Running with P.A. bull since December last, a line of 36 P.A. cows, mixed in size, currying store to good store order, passed nt £3 2/6. Running with a P.A. bull from the end of November, 12 P.A. cows, medium framed and store conditioned passed at £2 10/-. Eighty weaner P.A. steers, well grown and in good order, realised £3 16/-. Twenty weaner P.A. steers, not so well grown as tho previous pea, made £2 11/-. Three rising three-year-old Hereford steers realised £3 19/-.
