H.B. COUNTY RATES

Increase In Most Ridings Tho Hawke’s Bay County Council held a special meeting yesterday and decided that in most ridings it would be necessary to increase the general rate. The necessity for this was to establish an equilibrium between the estimated revenue and the estimated increased expenditure upon highways this year. The hospital rate remains the same as that for last year. In the following schedule of rating on the unimproved value, it should be noted that the general rate for the Meeanee riding has not yet been defer mined. Last year the rate in this riding was IJd. The new rates Io be struck, with those lor last year shown in paren theses, are these: Clive IJd (J l-Bd.). Havelock Id. (5-Bd.), Heretaunga Id. (23-40 d ), Marackakaho Id. (5-Bd.). Okawa Id. (15-166.), Petane Id (5-Bd.), Poukawa 1 l-Bd. (I l-Bd.) Puketapu Ijd. (7-10 d. Waikari Ijd (IJd.), Waimarama Id. (5-Bd.)
