NAPIER BUS SERVICE
P.O. to Kinross White Street As the result of a petition from residents in different parts of Napier South, tho No. 4 District Licensing Authority has agreed to permit the Hastings-Napier Chequer Bus Company, Ltd., to run a service from the Napier Post. Office to Kinross-White street, Napier South, where tho old tram service ran before tho earthquake. This announcement was made for the authority this morning by the chairman, Mr. H. M. Gambrell, with whom was associated Mr. J. G. Cliff McCulloch, and Mr. C. Matthews. .Mr C. W. Nash appeared on bchalt of the company.
Both tho Railway Department and the Napier South Bus Company appeared before the authority to show cause why the license should not be granted. After listening to tho evidence the authority decided in favour of the appellant company. The petition was signed by a number of people in Napier South and handed to the authority, and Mr. W. E. Barnard, M.P., as well as the Napier Borough Council, wrote hi support of tho company’s application and the petition of the residents.
The new service will begin on Monday, July 1.
