DRUIDS’ LODGE

Meeting in Hastings At the usual meeting of the Eureka Lodge No. 65 (Druids), Arch Druid Bro. L. J- Instone again presided over an excellent attendance of members. There were 46 brethren present. The sick bards reported that, with the exception of one brother, all sick members were progressing favourably. The main business of the evening was the installation of officers, the ceremony being performed by the District President, Bro. V. Rouse, of Albion Lodge. In addressing members at the conclusion of the installation, the District President stated that It had been a great privilege and an undoubted pleasure to perform a ceremony in a lodge-room where members were present in such numbers. He congratulated the lodge on the wonderful progress it was making, not only in numerical strength, but in the keen interest members were taking in lodge work and management. At the conclusion of his remarks the District President was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for the able manner in which he had carried out his duties.

During the evening members were entertained to a very instructive talk on Druidism by Bro. E. Cullen, the speaker receiving a hearty vote of thanks for the clear and lucid manner in which he gave the address. In continuance of the indoor bowls and card tournament being run under the auspices of the H.D.U.F. Society, the members of the lodge visited tlie Manchester Unity for the purpose of competing in a series of games, the results being as follow:- — Indoor bowls. — Manchester Unity (Franklin, Ball, Stockham, Lincoln, s) 13: Druids (Murphy, Farnell, Colbert, Tucker, s) 10. The cards resulted in a win for the Druids by four points. Members are reminded that an inspection of the folder will reveal the nature of the entertainment to be held next lodge night.
