HASTINGS HARRIERS
Seven-Mile Training Run The Hastings Harrier Club held its weekly run from Havelock North on Saturday. Twenty members participated. The trail was laid by H. Marshall and J. O’Shea, and covered about seven miles, practically all of which wag over very hilly country. Although no racing was indulged in, the run was ideal for training in view of the provincial championships on Saturday week, Two packs were formed, the runners finishing in this order:— Fast pack.—G. Ready 1, S. Coles 2, R. Poppelwell 3. Slow pack.—D. Robertson 1, C. Duff 2, A. Leo 3. The chib championship will bo held next Saturday from the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s racecourse. The distance will bo 6| miles. The public is cordially invited to witness this event, which starts at 2.30 p.m. Napier Teams’ Race In a handicap teams race for the Biddle Cup rosettes, for which five teams of four men competed. F. Brock’s team won with a one-point advantage. The race was held over the Napier club’s championship course of 6J miles, and produced a close finish. At the con elusion of the race, Mr 11. Biddle pr.c , sented the rosettes to the winning team. The results were as follow:— C team (hundieap, 5 min.': F. Brock 4. I. Double 2, I. l-hkell 12, A. Young l 7, total 25 points—l. B team (handicap, 3 min.): S. Gollop 1, A Bromley 5, B. Reid 11, W. Didcott 9, total 26 points—2. A team (handicap, scr.): A. Lord 3, T. Venn 8, G. Denford 10, S. Morris 16, total 37 pointe—3.
