BRITISH AIR FORCE
Big Orders for New Planes IMPROVED RANGE AND SPEED By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright LONDON, June 20. The “Daily Telegraph” says that the Air Ministry has already placed orders, two of which are for more than 150 machines. The orders include a multi-engined bomber of the most improved type, a new type of four-engined night bomber, a coastal reconnaissance machine and new training aircraft. The programme involves 40 to 60 per cent improvement in range, speed and ease of control of the principal machines. It is urgently necessary that the range of day bombers should be at least 1000 miles and of heavy night bombers 2000 miles—that is. 1000 miles each way. The speed of fighters in the next two years will be increased from 210 to 275 or 300 miles an hour.
