Cold Day for Napier Park FURS AND TWEEDS POPULAR The weather proved rather disappointing yesterday for the first day of the winter meeting of the Napier Park Racing Club, with the result that the attendance was not as large as might have been expected. However, the racing enthusiasts who braved the wind were rewarded with a good day’s sport and those who remained on the stand were well sheltered from the winds. Fur and tweed coats were worn by most people and collars were fastened high at the neck wherever possible. A few pretty suits reminded ono of the snappy styles now being worn, ana among the young folk especially were seen bright colourings in scarves, bags and gloves. klrs J. E. Gleadow, wife of the secretary, wore a tailored costume . of brown flecked Donegal tweed under a musquash coat, and a smart turban hat iu brown with a yellow feather mount. Mrs 11. W. Dalgleisn, musquash tur coat with collar or skunk worn over a beige brown ensemble, and a hat of the same shade banded with brown. Mrs Oswald Nelson, nigger brown tweed coat with high collar of sable fui and a dark brown velour bat. Mrs C. Haldane, tele de negro smartly tailored coat with collar and sleeves of Russian sable, and a pretty tangcr iuo tricorne hat. Mrs 11. Peacock (Waipukurau), brown and mustard flecked tweed ensemble worn with a marmot fur coat and dark brown hat. Mrs T. 11. Lowry, navy ensemble worn under a fur coat, and a navy hat finished at the back with a shaded blue quill. Mrs A. Symes, blackberry boucle tailored coat with ti high fur collar and blackberry felt hat finished with a quill through the crown. Mrs A. G. Stead, musquash coat worn over a brown ensemble and a brown felt hut. Mrs H. Dods (Gisborne), fawn tweed costume worn with a green jumper having a polo collar, marmot coat and brown felt hat. Mrs T. V. Morrin, brown and orange flecked woollen ensemble, a Kolinsky coat with collar of skunk and a fawn felt hat finished in front with a bright feather mount. Mrs R. H. Bettington, Sydney, green and fawn flecked tweed ensemble with a deep green polo-collared jumper and a deep green hat turned up at the back and fox furs.

Mrs Brian Burke (Gisborne), brown tailored tout with a stone marten necklet and brown hat trimmed with a bright quill through the crown. Mrs Percy Hunter, blackberry boucle coat, the over-the-shoulder collar finished with fur and a blackberry hat with tucked crown. Mrs W. G. Stead, mink fur coat with high skunk collar worn over a grey tweed ensemble and a hat of grey tweed. Mrs J. N. Lowry, navy knop tweed coat, navy and white spotted scarf and a smart navy toque. Mrs J. L. Masterson, brown and fawn checked tweed suit with a fawn hat banded in brown. Mrs W. R. Stead, green flecked tweed suit, green hat and a fawn tailored coat with a stone marten necklet. Mrs AV. Raymond, navy angora flecked woollen frock worn with a brown coat, having a fur collar and a wine hat. Mrs W. Neilson (Te Awanga), brown tailored coat, brown and white spotted scarf and a brown beretta hat. Mrs W. H. Gaisford (Dannevirke), nigger brown coat with a collar of sable and a brown velour hat, the manipulated crown finished with a quill. Mrs Loughnan, navy tailored coat, navy hat and a stone marten stole. Mrs P. F. Wall (Hatuma), brown boucle coat with collar of sable fur and a dark brown hat with manipulated crown. Mrs A dam Bell, resida green coat with collar of black caracul and a black velour hat. Mrs H. D. Hardy, navy frock with a navy hat and a musquash fur coat. Mrs G. D. Beatson, black sealskin coat with skunk collar and a black felt hat finished with a white quill. Mrs J. D. Todd (Waipukurau), brown ensemble with a shrimp pink blouse worn under a musquash coat and a brown hat finished with a green and beige and cherry quill. Mrs Frank Fryer, blue and white finely flecked ensemble worn with a blue angora flecked hat and a musquash coat. Mrs Norman White, tele de negro houclo coat with high fur collar and a brown felt hat. Mrs H. Beamish, resida green tweed tailored coat with collar of wolf fur and a smart green hat the same shade as her coat. Mrs M. Miller, musquash coat worn over a. brown suit, brown and fawn cheeked scarf and a fawn felt hat turned up nt the back with a quill. Mrs Frank Twigg, brown frock under a fur coat and a brown hat turned till round and trimmed with a leather mount. Mrs J. B. Thomson, navy corded boucle coat fastening high at the neck and a navy hat turned up at the back and finished in front with a silver ornament. Mrs Graham (New Plymouth), mink fur coat with trimmings on the sleeves of tiny tails, wore over a black frock with touches of golden yellow and a black off-the-face hat. Mrs 11. R. von Dadekzen, brown and yellow checked swagger suit and a brown beretta hat. Mrs Hobson (Hatuma), musquash coat worn over a brown tweed ensemble and a brown hat. Mrs E. T. R. Carlyon, fawn tailored coat worn with a nigger brown felt hat.

Mrs Hunt, Hack sealskin coat with collar of skunk and a bright cherry scarf and hat. Mrs F. J. Hull, deep green coat with skunk collar, and a small green hat. Mrs Harold Hunter, brown tailored suit with a brown, lawn and tangerine diagonally striped start and a brown hat. Mrs Hudson, lawn flecked tweed tailored coat worn with a brown felt, hat. Mrs Campbell McNiven, musquash coat worn over a green ensemble with green and beige spotted scurf aud a green lelt hat. Mrs 1. W. Mackie (Waipukurau), brown and fawn flecked tweed suit, brown ami fawn checked scarf and a fawn velour hat with bright leather mount. Mrs A. E. Palmer, navy coat with fur collar worn over a wine frock aud a wine velour hat. Mks Margaret Dalgleish, blackberry woven ensemble with scarf of blackberry and white ami her bat the same shade as her frock finished with touches of white. Miss Audrey Hicks, navy knobble tweed coat and skirt with scarf of navy coin spotted with white, and <* navy velour hat trimmed with a white corded knotted in front with tassels. Miss B. Bradley, fawn-brown tweed frock trimmed with lacings ol nigger brown, large brown wooden buttons; a brown tricorne hat and fox furs. Miss J. Landels, tailored suit in brown with brightly striped scarf aud a navy felt hat turned up at the back. Miss Jill Moody, brown tailored suit with a jumper blouse of brown arid rust checks and a brown hat turned up at the back with a quill. Miss Enid Twigg, brown suit with a brown and fawn finely spotted scarf and a brown hat trimmed with a lawn cord. Miss Barbara Reed, navy astrakan coat worn over a navy, blue and white figured frock and a navy felt hat. Miss G. Hardy, musquasn coat worn over a brown ensemble and a brown velour hut. Miss Jean Wilson, dark brown boucle coat with high skunk collar, a brown aud orange scar! and brown telk hat turned up at the back. Mies Jean Brodie, flank musquash coat over u brown and fawn suit, a brown velour hat turned up at the back and trimmed with a beige cord. Miss Mary Campbell, shaded mole angora tweed frock trimmed with spring buttons, brown flecked tweed coat with sable collar aud brown angora flecked hat. Miss D. Hunter, fawn-brown tailored suit with a yellow blouse, sablo stole and hat of the same material as her suit. Miss M. Fryer, brown knobbly tweed coat with a scarf of yellow and a yellow aud brown beret. Miss Molly Jcfferd, smart suit of brown knotted tweed flecked with orange, fawn tailored coat and hat of brown felt. Mists D. Howard, brown bouclo coat with sable collar and button trimming aud a brown Tyrolean hat finished with a feather quill. Miss Pat Palmer, blue jumper worn with a blue and black skirt, tweed coat and a blue beret. Miss Helen Raymond, resida green woven frock worn with a Teddy-bear coat and a dark brown off-the-face hat.

Miss Mary Murphy (Gisborne), grey tailored suit with a cherry scarf and smart grey hat. Miss Margaret Rolleston, blue and white check suit with a blue and white scarf aud blue felt hat. Miss Cecily Bell, brown tailored costume with a brown and orange scarf and a, fawn hat turned up at the back and banded with brown. Miss Valerie deLatour (Wairoa), black angora flecked tweed frock with jabot collar of cherry and white and a cherry liat. Miss Dora Nelson, musquash fur coat and a brown hat with finely stitched crown. Miss Y. Pettit, fawn and brown flecked tweed ensemble and a fawn felt hat. Miss Jamieson, black sealskin coat over a blue woven ensemble and a blue hat. Miss Joan Hunter, Russian suit with navy tunic, navy and white skirt, tomato and white spotted scarf and a navy astrakan Russian hat. Miss Shena White, wine coat fastening high at the neck with a crossover tie of flank musquash, and a wine feit hat with manipulated crown. Miss F. Nutter, marmot fur coat over a green flecked tweed costume and a green felt hat. Miss Margaret Hyslop, long tailored coat of fine brown tweed with a blouse of plaid silk in green, brown and ivory, and a brown hat finished in front with a bright feather mount. Miss M. Thomson, saxe blue ensemble with scarf of blue and white checked silk and a blue felt hat with tucked crown.
