RELIEF PROVISION
Dunedin Labour Council’s Aim By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN, June 20. That an early raid may be expected on the funds of the various trading departments of the City Council by the new Labour council in order to make better provision for relief workers in the city is disclosed in the report of the finance committee, which will be dealt with at a meeting of the council on Monday night. The proposal is to curtail payments into renewal funds of several of the trading departments for ono year and transfer such sum to the general account to provide a fund to .supplement the earnings of relief workers employ ed on certain works to bring their pay up to standard rates for respective days pct week allotted them under Scheme 3. The committee aims to provide a fund of £32,000.
