COMING EVENTS
Those interested in badminton should note that to-morrow evening in the Hastings Drill Hall an inter-pro-vincial match will be played between Hustings and Wellington. Some of the Dominion’s leading players will be taking part in the contest and will also bo giving exhibition bouts.
Members and supporters of the Havelock North Club are requested to attend a special general meeting to be held in the Havelock Bowling Club’s pavilion at 6.13 p.m. sharp to-corrow (Saturday). A full attendance of both senior and third-grade members is requested. Patrons are reminded of the dance to be held by the Havelock North Tennis Club in the Town Board Hall on Tuesday evening next. Les. Henry’s orchestra will play the music and a tempting eupper is assured. A free ’bus will rnn from Hastings, returning after the dance. An enjoyable evening u assured all who attend. The attention of members of the Hawke's Bay Labour Day Picnic and Sports Committee from Napier, Hastings, Havelock North, Clive and elsewhere is drawn to an advertisement that appears in to-night's paper. Five special evangelistic services will be held in the Baptist Church. Karaniu road south, from Sunday to Thursday next in the evenings. The speaker will be a well-known Baptist minister who was formerly the pastor of .the church in Hastings and whose very fine work is firmly remembered by a large number. The Rev. H. E. Edridge comes from Wellington to conduct these services, and also that on Sunday morning, and it is anticipated that his visit will claim a wide and eager interest. He comes with a message of challenge, a id doubtless the five days will prove r'i too short a time for those who will wa.it to bear Mr Edridge.
