The Rev. 11. Blathwayt, of Takapau, who has been indisposed, is now convalescing. Mr. W. Harrobin has been appointed Government representative on the New Zeuluud Poultry Board. Sir Henry Lindo Ferguson, K. 8., Dunedin, has been appointed a member of the Medical Council. Mr King! Tahjwi, winner of the Plunket Medal oratory contest in connection with tho Victoria University, received his early education at Te Aute College. Mr Frank Jacomb, the new manager of tho State Theatre, Napier, vice Mr J. W. Erskine, arrived in Napier yesterday and t ink over his new' duties as from to-di:y, Mr. E. V. Simpson lias been appointed by the Hastings Borough Council as its representative on the Hastings High School Board for a further term of two years. Mrs Creighton-Innie, representing tho New Zealand Forestry League, will be present at the Forestry Day at Rissington Station to-morrow. She will be pleased to give any information to those interested. Mr W. Cuthbertson, of Takapau, secretary of the North Island SheepDog Trial Association, is attending the championship meeting ot the South Island Association in connection with the business of his society. Mr M S. Purser, formerly of tbs Palmerston North branch of the Bank of Australasia, has been promoted to the position of accountant in the Dannevirke office, vice Mr F, Shepherd, transferred to Waverley.

The Hon. A. D. McLeod, M.P. for Wuirarapa, has gone to Rotorua, where he will take a course of recuperative baths until just before the opening of the Parliamentary session about tho middle of August. IDs health has much improved. Mr. H. de Denn*, who has been appointed by the Hawke’s Bay Education Board as one of its representatives on the Hastings High School Board, was welcomed by niemliers when he took bis seat on that body at its annual meeting last night. Mr. L. T. Burnard has been reeleced as the representative of the Hawke's Bay Education Board on the Gisborne High School Board. At the board meeting this morning it was resolved to send a letter of appreciation to him for his services in past years. Mr. E. J. W. Hallett was unanimously re-elected chairman of the Hastings High School Board last night for a further term of two years. Mr. Hallett expressed his thanks to members for their continued confidence and support and lor the assistance they had at all times accorded him. The Hon Sir Alfred Ransom, Act-ing-Prime Minister, who has been Indisposed for some time, resumed his Ministerial duties at Parliament House yesterday, attending a full meeting of the Executive Council. The«Minister’« health has improved to an appreciable extent, but it will be necessary for him to take things more easily than usual for a week or so.
