POWER LINE ERECTION. “The main job completed during February was the re-binding ot the 1 orangnhau line from Wallingford to Huiitei s, and also the Oakbufi brr.nch,’' .-aid the eng.ncer, Mr J. lx. Lee, at to-day’s meeting of the Central 11.8. Power Board. “In connection with this I would like to point out that this was our fust experience with aluminium cable, and it was bound in the orthodox way, and was quite satisfactory for awhile, but the use of the light guage binding wire as recommended by lie manufacturers would not stand up to the high winds experienced. The binding has now been done on an entirely different method with much heavier binding wire and cadi tie has been specially armouied to prevent chafing, so that I do not anticipate we will have much more trouble on this line. Opportunity was taken also to instal a circuit breaker on the line, so a* to eliminate any shut-downs due tu short circuits on the line through Hun tor’s property, on which most of the trouble experienced has occurred.” DAMAGE BY LIGHTNING. “A large number of lightning storms were experienced during February and rather accentuated the faults among high tension fuses,” said the engineer at to-day’s meeting of the Centra] Hawke’s Bay Electric Power Board.
