PRISONER SUICIDES
Charged with Theft in N.Z. FOUND IN AUSTRALIAN GAOL (Received 15, 10.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, March 15. A prisoner on remand, George Davis, aged 46 years, a clerk, was found hanged in his cell at Long Bay gaol. Davis was taken into custody this week on a warrant for arrest on the charge of having stolen £3 from the Putaruru Pine and Pulp Company (New Zealand), Limited. He was charged in tho Police Court on Wednesday, when ho ra remanded till to-day. On entering the cell the warder found Davis swinging from a ventilator, having used his necktie and a towel as a rope.
