BLEDISLOE MEDAL
Scope of Award Widened LINCOLN COLLEGE AWARD An extension of the conditions under which the Lincoln College Bledisloe Medal may be awarded was agreed i on by the college board of governors at a recent meeting. The alteration, which has been approved by the Go--1 vernor-Gencral (Lord Bledisloe), pro- | vides for the recognition of the ser--1 vices ot former students to the Do- ! million. Ihe award of the medal is restrict- I ! cd to former students of the college I who hold either the college diploma, ’ the degree ot B.Agr. or B.Agr.Sc. ' | Ihe existing regulations are that to ; I quality a former student “(1) Must have been a successful fanner, showing that his course at the I college has enabled him to develop his laim to the best advantage; that his i presence in the district in which he re- . sides has raised the standard of farin- | ing, and that he has taken a keen inI terest in district affairs, especially in the advancement of agriculture iu the ■ Dominion. “(2) Or that he has successfully introduced new varieties of farm crops or better methods of production of farm crops and their utilisation. “(3) Or that he has been distinguished as a research worker or agricultural instructor. “(4) Or that he has gained academic distinction following his college course and as a direct result of that j course.” The new clause reads: ‘‘Or that he has rendered conspicuous service which has resulted in material benefit to New Zealand.”
