OBITUARY

Mr. J. M. Robertson Mr James M. Robertson, whose death occurred iu Dunedin tins week, wag born in Roseshire, Scotland, and was the third son of the late Mr John Robertson, ot Mounteagle Fearn, Easter Ross. He was educated at the Tain Royal Academy and for a time was engaged in clerical work in Tain. In 1898 he landed at Dunedin found clerical employment at the (Jiydevale Estat*' ot the New Zealand and Australian Land Company and later at the Levels Estate, Timaru, where he made a study of wool and skins. For a number of years from 1904 fie was wool manager at Napier tor the New Zealand Loan ami Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., and later at Wanganui tor the Hawera Farmers’ Co-op. Association, Ltd. and at Pahiatua he managed Messrs Wilson and Canhani’s business. In 1923 he was transferred to Dunedin, taking charge of the lastnamed firm's Otago and Southland business. In 1911 Mr Robertson marlied Miss Mary Cunningham, daughter of the late .Mr C. A. Cunningham, of Round Hill, North Canterbury, and there are three daughters, Misses Avery. Joy, and Patty Robertson. A brother (Mr R. M. Robertson) lives in New Zealand, and a widowed sister (Mrs A M. Fra*er) in London. His eldest brother (Major W. J. Robertson of tho 4th Seaforth Highlanders) was killed in the Great War at Neuve Chappell in 1915.
