The King recently decorated a London G.P.O. detective who had been responsible for the spectacular round up of one of the cleverest gangs in the country. In 1931, nine years after the first telephone kiosks had been constructed for public use, the Post Office found that £4.000 had been stolen from 2,000 kiosks within 12 months. After many months’ patient work this detective arresed the master crook, with the result that thefts now amount to something like £’J per monh, compared with £7Oll per month in 1932.
