Hastings Scots’ Society Function BURNS MEMORIAL APPEAL The monthly Ingleside of the Hastings and District Scots Society, held in tho Oddfellows’ Hall, Market street, proved itself another enjoyable evening. 'There was a good attendance of members, and quite a number of visitors, some of whom had come all the way from Wellington and Central Otago Chief H. W. C. Baird, who presided, extended a hearty welcome to the members and their friends, and in his intimations mentioned that it had been decided to take up a collection tor the Burns .Memorial Homes, Manchline, an institution founded for the purpose of providing homes and caring for old people in the evening of their days. The sum of £5 was aimed at and as the object was a worthy one he hoped that a goo I response would be the rei suit.
