21 CONVICTS ESCAPE
Women and Children Used As Shields NEW YORK, Feb. 17. A message from Granite, Oklahoma, states that 21 long-term convicts effected a daring escape from the State reformatory there while a group of visitors, including women and children, were inspecting the institution. All the escapees were equipped with smuggled pistols and, partially using the visitors as shields, forced the keeperg to open the gate. In an exchange of fire one of the keepers was killed ami three convicts wounded and captured. The remainder made their escape in stolen automobiles,
