SUCCESSFUL RALLY
Camp-Fire at Haumoana BIBLE CLASS GATHERING The initial inter-denominational rally for 1935 under the auspices of the Evangelical Bible Class Council for Napier and Hastings districts took the form of a camp-fire on the Haumoana Beach last evening. The gathering was largely attended there being over 150 members from Napier, Hastings, Taradale, Port Ahuriri, and Haumoana classes present. The meeting commenced with the singing of a few choruses, after which Mr. J. Thorp, who presided, led in prayer. The Rev. C. B. Boggis read a portion of Scripture, and the meeting was then handed over to four elected youth speakers. Each address was of approximately 10 minutes’ duration and assisted greatly by the splendid atmosphere of fellowship, each speaker enjoyed great freedom. The addresses given were as follow:—Mr. Noel Garratt (Napier Gospel Hall) “A New Year’s Alessage,” a study from Nehemiah ; Air. Rushbrook (Napier Baptist), “Reigning In Life’’ (Rom. 5:17); Air. Selwyn Baker (Hastings Baptist), “A Harvest of Riches,” an address on righteousness; Mr. Edgar Finneniore (Taradale Presbyterian), “The Glad Gospel of Death.” The meeting was an outstanding success, and the addresses were greatly blessed of God. The convener of the council, Mr. Alex Whitton, intimated that the openair meetings in Napier would be resumed on Saturday, March 2. and requested the enthusiastic co-operation <>l the classes. The Rev. C. W. Duncumb pronounced the Benediction, and a rally which will live long in the memories of all present was brought to a close Not a day passes hut.
