Hastings Branch’s Meeting
The monthly meeting of the Hastings branch of the Plunket Society was held on Friday, there being present Miss Williams (in the chair), Mesdames E. C. Bates, A. Bell, M. Bell, H. Gascoyne, A. R. Gicenwood, C. A. Hendry, E. J. Herrick, F. J. Hull, J. B. Pickering, C. Stubbs, E. L. Suti'o, W. F. Wellwood, W. A. Whitlock, A. I). S. Whyte, the Misses Keith and S. K. Wellwood, and Mrs. R .Sunderland (lion, secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames 11. A .Fannin, G. A. Maddison and E. M. Nelson. The president welcomed Mrs. Sutro as a new member of the committee.
The nurses’ report lor August submitted to the meeting read as follows; •New cases, town 21, country 11; visitors to office, 977; visits to homes, town 216, country 1.57; advice over telephone, 90; letters received, 8; letters written, 5. Country districts visited. Havelock North seven times, Maugatereterc 6, Clive 3, Whakatu 2, llauinoaiia 3, Te Awangj 3, Twylord -1, Fernhill 1, Sherenden 1, C'rownthorpe 1, Longlauds 3, Paki Puki 3, Pakowhai 3.
Parcels of clothes were gratelully received during the month from the following women’s organisations-'Hie Sherenden Women’s Division ot the Farmers’ I num. the Haumoanu Sewing Circle and the Elsthorpe Women's Institute, as well as from several private individuals.
It was decided to hold a jumble sale ol clothes on Saturday, September 29, lor which parcels may be left at the rooms at the Women's’ Rest. The location lor the sale will be advertised later. Further arrangements were made 10l the garden tele, which is to be held at. Frimlcy mi November 1. -Mrs. Whyte aud Miss S. K. Wellwood were appointed visiting committee for the coming month.
