CRICKET IN HAVELOCK

CLUB’S ANNUAL MEETING

JUNIOR TEAM TO PLAY.

From Our Own Correspondent. The annual meeting of the Havelock North Cricket Club was held last evening in the Town Board hall, Mr G. E. G. Bogers presiding over a good attendance.

The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted. The balance sheet showed the club’s affairs to be in a very satisfactory condition.

The annual report stated: "During the past season the club re-entered into the Hasting Sub-Association’s competitions with two teams, a junior and a third grade, the latter withdrawing owing to the difficulty of securing players. The juniors acquitted themselves satisfactorily. "A great deal of equipment was purchased and is now held by the chib. "The Domain has been further improved this year, the bank •on the Te Mata road side having been further excavated and the soil used in extending tho playing area at the Napier end. thus making the ground much larger and improving further what was previously a good cricket field. The club has every reasoa to be grateful to the Domain Board for the way in which it has improved the ground and also for the erection of conveniences. Most, of the improvements have been for tho benefit of the public in general, but this club is extremely fortunate in having the assistance of such a progressive body.” The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr G. Hushecr; president, Mr 11. R- Elder; vice-president, Mr F. Redpath; captain and vice-cap-tain, to be elected after the first match; umpires, Messrs H. Upchurch and A. Liley. It was decided to affiliate with the Hartings Hub-Association and enter a junior team only. Ihe first practice will take place on the Domnin on Saturday, September 22.
