BOXING
RAYNER BEATS COSTA N.Z. MAN TOO STRONG. By Telegraph—Press Association DUNEDIN, September 16. There was a fair attendance at the Town Hall last night when Clarrie Rayner. 8.1.3} (New Zealand) beat Dal Costa B.lo} (Australia) on points in a 10-rouTid contest. The boxers gave a fine display of fast open fighting, making the pace hot, hut although the Australian was game, he could not overcome the extra weight and superior strength of the New Zealander.
Rayner built up a good lead in the early rounds, but towards the end Costa scored points with lefts to the jaw, but hi-, blows lacked sting.
