DANGEROUS GANGSTERS

Shoot First & Shoot to Kill ORDER TO NEW YORK POLICE (Received 7, 10.10 a m.) NEW YORK, May 5. Gangsters terrorised two sections of Manhattan’s east side in gun battles with police, in which one policeman was killed and two gravely injured. Three children, including a ten-months-old ’ baby, were painfully injured. Four gunmen, while making their escape after a store robbery, were questioned on suspicion by a policeman. Without warning all started shooting and killed him instantly, then insanely continued firing, injuring children. Two other policemen were shot at without warning when questioning suspicious characters in another section. So many officers have been victims of such attacks that the Mayor, Mr La Guardia, has issued a blanket order to the police to “shoot first and shoot to kill.”
