Scotch Shorthorn Sale FAIR PRICES REALISED On Saturday afternoon at the conclusion of the Greenhill dispersal sale, Mr \V. A. McFarlane's, Waiterenui Scotch Shorthorn stud was disposed of at the Stortford Lodge sale yards, before a fair bench of buyers, prices averaging under IGgns. per beast. The auctioneers selling in conjunction were the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Co-operative Association and Williams and Kettle, Ltd. The Waiterenui herd was started in 1929 by the purchase of the pick of the Maraekakaho herd, practically all the show team being secured. The sire used lias Bushy Park Royal Mandarin, twice champion at the New Zealand Royal Shows, 1929 and 1930. The prices realised were as follow: — Maraekakaho Buscot Queen 111, dark roan, calved September 16, 1925, depasturing with Bushy Park Royal Mandarin, F. L. Tiffen. Elsthorpe, llgns; and her red bull calf, sired by Bushy Park Royal Mandarin and calved Oct. 7, 1933, went to F. L. Tiffen, Elsthorpe, at 6gns. Maraekakaho Queen Vale, dark roan, calved Sept. 26, 1924, sire King Diamond, depastured with Bushy Park Royal Mandarin, Wright Stephenson, and Co., Bogus.; and her red heifer calf sired by Bushy Park Royal Mandarin and calved Aug. 10, 1933, W. Miller, Whangarei, 30gns. Maraekakaho Diamond Daisy 11, dark roan, calved March 25, 1926. Sire Knopdale Diamond Conqueror, depastured with Bushy Park Royal Mandarin, F. L. Tiffen, Elsthorpe, sgns.; and her roan heifer calf, calved November 10, sire Royal Mandarin, to same buyer at 3gns. Maraekakaho Missie 4th., roan, calved Dec. 15, 1928, sire Maraekakaho Bold Baron, depasturing with Bushy Park Royal Mandarin. F. L. Tiffen, Elsthorpe, 4gns.; and her red heifer calf by Royal Mandarin, calved Sept. 22, 1933, W. Miller, Whiaigarei 6gns. Maraekakaho Empress sth., dark roan, calved Oct. 20, 1928. Sire Royal Victor, depasturing with Royal Mandarin, F. L. Tiffen, Elsthorpe, 21gns. A red calf by the Bushy Park bull, calved Sept 23, 1933, went to the same buyer at 11 gns. Bushy Park Royal Mandarin, a proven sire, calved August 12, 1927, and a prize winner. Bidding, was slow to start, commencing at 7Jgns., and was actually sold at 9gns., to Messrs Stephenson and Co.
