OBITUARY

Mr. William Pellew Mr William Pellew, who died at New Plymouth on Saturday at the age of 71, was a son of Mr and Mrs Israel Pellew, who came to New Zealand in the Timandra in February, 1842. They belonged to a well-known naval family* Admiral Sir Edward Pellew and Admiral Israel Pellew were lieutenants of Nelson during the Napoleonic wars, and the former was granted an earldom after destroying in 1816 a nest of pirates at Algiers. Mr William Pellew was born in King street, New Plymouth, and spent the whole of hie life in the district.
