Mr J. R. Kirk. 0.8. E.. of Wellington, is on a short visit to Hastings. Dr. W. Hunter Will and Mrs Will of Palmerston North, left Auckland by the Mariposa on Saturday for Los Angeles. Mr J. Mr E. Newbigin, of Hastings, who is in Royston Hospital, having had a leg amputated, passed a satisfactory night, and his condition to-day was reported to be favourable.

Dr. V. G. Heiser, of New York, eastern director of the Rockefeller Foundation, who arrived in New Zealand some weeks ago from Sydney, left by the Mariposa ou Saturday for Suva.

The Rt. Rev. C. A. Cherrmgtou. Bishop of Waikato, who arrives in Napier to-morrow night to attend General Synod, is to preach at All Saints’ Parish Churcn, laradale, next Sunday evening.

Mr. William C. Guthrie, of Imperial Chemical Industries of Australia and New Zealand Limited, is a passenger by the Waugauella, which will arrive at Wellington to-morrow. Mr. Guthrie expects to spend about a fortnight in the Dominion.

Monsieur Armand Nihotte, Consul for Belgium in New Zealand, will leave on Friday next by the Rangitane on an xtended visit to Belgium. During his absence the Consulate will be in charge of Mr. Al. G. C. McCaul, of Wellington.

Sir Edmund and Lady Vestey, of England, have arrived in Auckland and will spend a holiday in New Zealand. Sir Edmund, in conjunction with hie brother,’ Lord Vestey, is head of the Blue Star Shipping Line, which recently extended operations to New Zealand.He is also a director of the Union Cold Storage Company, Limited, end affiliated companies. Lady Vestey is a New "lealander by birth, but has not been in the Dominion since she was an infant.
