BILLIARDS TITLE
Davis Not Decided (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received 9, 10.10 a.m.) LONDON. April 8. Davis denies a Melbourne Press cable stating that he is going to Australia in May to play in the world billiards championship. He states that he has net made definite arrangements to go to Australia and is still uncertain whether he is going at all, as he has still not obtained any tangible I guarantees or suggested programme. Hence the whole project is still in the I air I “Lindrutn says he feels sure we I would do well.” Davis said, “but this I is not definite enough to warrant' incur- ' ring an expensive overseas trip. 1 have cabled Lindrmn several times. His replies never answer my question. I do not feel like spending more money on cables. 1 do not know what course of action to take.” The “Evening Standard” says that l< spite the assistance of Linton and his cables to the Premier of Victoria, it looks as though the world championship, if ever played at all, will simply be between Lindrmn and McConachy. Davis retained the professional snooker championship, defeating Newman by 24 games to 21.
