CHURCH SERVICES

At St. Matthew’s Church, Hastings, to-morrow, harvest Thanksgiving services will be held in conjunction with the Octave of Easter. There will bo Holy Communion at 7 a.m., 8 a.m. nnd 9.30 a.m. Mattins and sermon will be at 11 a m., Holy Baptism at 3 p.m., and festival evensong and sermon at 7 p.m. The anthem will be “O Lord, How Manifold are Thy Works.” The Easter Holy Communion for Parkvale will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Barnabas’. A service for children will be held at Mahora School at 2.30 p.m., followed by prize distribution. A service at tho hospital will be hold at 6 p.m. and also evensong at 7 p.m. at Mahora School, and an open-air service at Westerman’s corner at 8.20 p.m. will be conducted by the vicar. The collections at all services will bo given to tho church's Children’s Homes at Otane and Waipawa and also all gifts of fruit, vegetables and preserves.

The services at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Market street, Hastings, will bo conducted by the Rev. Geo. Miller. Morning subject: “The Weaving of Life's Web.” The evening subject will be: “The Mirage Becomes a Pool.” Anthems will be sung. “Krishnamurti, Christ and the East” will be the subject to be discussed in the Hastings Methodist Church on Sunday evening by the Rev. R. B. Gosnell who, on that day, commences the second year of his ministry in Hastings. The morning subject is “Scribes and Pharisees 34 A.D. and 1034 A.D.” The choir will render the following anthems: Morning, “O That I Knew Where I Might Find Him”; evening, “Send Out Thy Light.” At the close of the evening service the Young Women’s Bible Classes will present in Wesley Hall the sacred reading, “He had Great Possessions” —the story of the rich young ruler.

At tho Baptist Church, Karamu road south, to-morrow the Rev. C. B. Boggis will preach at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. The morning topic will be “The Christian Overplus” (or, “Are Christians Better than Others?”). In the evening the subject is entitled “Something to bo Proud Of.” The choir will sing messages of help at both services. Everyone is invited.

A Sunday of joyful religion is announced for the Salvation Army services in Hastings to-morrow, which will be conducted by Adjutant Allan Montgomery. The subject for the holiness assembly at 11 a.m. is “Glory, Strength and Beauty.” Tho “All Seeing Eye” is the title of the subject for the evening address. Congregational singing will also be a feature.

The services in the Havelock North Presbyterian Church on Sunday will be conducted by the Rev. R. Waugh, both morning and evening.

The service at the Stortford Lodge Interdenominational Mission Hall on Sunday evening will be conducted by Mr. J. Thorp. There will be the usual bright singing and a hearty invitation is extended to all.

The subject of the address to be given in the United Hall. Hastings, on Sunday night will be “The Bible Doctrine of Judgment to Conic.” All are welcome, and opportunity to put questions is afforded.
