VISITORS IMPRESSED Facilities at Beatson’s Park UNANIMOUS PRAISE Despite the unfavourable weather for j the holidays the motor camp at Beat- i aon’a Park proved to he exceptionally ' popular with visiting campers, who j were loud in their praise concerning j the comfort they were able to enjoy I •nd also the attention that was given | to them by the caretaker. Several of the : visitors who are experienced campers consider it to be the finest motor camp j in the North Island and state that they I •re eagerly looking forward to their < nut stay in the camp. Several have j already asked for spots in the camp i for next summer. Although the weather generally i through the summer has been some- ) what unfavourable for camping, this ; year so far ha« proved to be a record j one in that there have been more visitors to the eamp than ever. Fully 50 i per cent, of the campers have made ] previous visits, several having been many times. Visitors from Welling- | ton. who comprise about 75 per cent. I of the campers, find it a great convenience to have their gear collected and delivered by motor transport, thus enabling them to travel with larger parties in their cars.

The Borough Council it, fully alive to the needs of fhe camp through its increasing popularity, and consideration is being given to the question of prov ling additions to various facilities which have made the camp so popular. At present there are eight gas rings •nd it is intended to double this number, while the installation of hot and cold water showers is to he considered. The erection of conveniences in what is known ns the acacia block is also to he considered, while some matters of detail which will add to the plca•nre of camping are to receive attention. TYPICAL OPINIONS. Visiting children greatly enjoy the •pportumties afforded for happy recreation. “They don’t like to leave the Slace,’’ remarked the caretaker, Mr. Jbbands, to a “Tribune" representative when visiting the camp this morning in company with Cr. P. M. Cohr, chairman ot the Works Committee. An inspection of the visitors’ book revealed the delight and satisfaction experienced by campers during their •tay and their desire to return to the camp to enjoy a further holiday. “This i* our fourth visit and it is one of the most pleasant and best maintained camps that we know of,” wrote Mr. N. T. Lambourne, Director of Education. “Illis is camping de luxe and has spoiled üb, for we shall be very particular. The morning reflection in the lagoon is one to be remembered always,” stated Dr. Milne, of Otaki. “The weather was decidedly bad, but it was more than made up for by the eomfort and attention we received. The eamp could not have been better." was the opinion of Mr. J. H. Kirby, ot Wellington.

The unfavourable weather did not deter the Rev. A. C. Swainson, of Palmerston, who wrote: “Despite the bad weather we had a very enjoyable week owing to the wonderful facilities, the beautiful surroundings and the courteous attention ” “This is our seventh vieit and.
